最近,Gartner Group公布了其供应链排名前25位。近年来,他们还引进了供应链新星,以表彰中型企业的供应链优势(1- 100亿美元)。供应链洞察(SCI)与Gartner在自己的供应链指数上展开竞争,甚至将Gartner的榜单称为“高中人气竞赛”。在最近的一份声明中,SCI进一步支持他们的指数将供应链卓越度定义为一个“可以应用于所有上市公司来判断改善程度”的指标。


Recently, Gartner Group announced its Supply Chain Top 25. In recent years, they also introduced Supply Chainnovators to recognize supply chain excellence in mid-sized companies (US$1-10B).  Supply Chain Insights (SCI), competing with Gartner on a Supply Chain Index of their own, went as far as calling the Gartner list “a high school popularity contest.”  In a recent announcement, SCI further espoused that their index defines supply chain excellence as a marker “that can be applied to all publicly-held companies to judge improvement.”

In both cases, supply chain excellence is used to describe a benchmark–a noun.  As a coach in over 150 projects with medium and small businesses, I have observed successful businesses to treat Supply Chain Excellence as a verb.  The journey is at least as important as the destination.  The main predictor of success in small business is organizational support; and that begins and ends with the CEO.
